Community Involvement

Each Criterion program is designed to respond to the specific needs and characteristics of the communities it serves. Program administrators participate in local early childhood provider networks to enhance the quality of services offered throughout the community. Active community involvement insures that Criterion programs are able to effectively collaborate with other programs and providers to insure high quality, comprehensive services for their enrolled families.

Respect for family culture and values is given primary consideration when developing individualized programs for young children. The agency makes it a priority to recruit staff reflective of the cultural and linguistic groups it serves. An emphasis on cultural awareness and sensitivity is part of the training that each Criterion employee receives. Staff are encouraged to develop an understanding of various cultures and to incorporate cultural values and beliefs into service delivery.
